Fairly common resident.

Associated with Birch Betula spp. with adults from the end of April to early May and larvae mining the leaves from the end of May to July.

A blotch mine with distinctive long strands of frass. The first linear part of the mine still visible in one corner of the blotch, the first part of which is broader and squarer than in E. salopiella.
