Rare local resident in marshes and wet flushes. At least two broods, maybe more in good years.

Larvae on Scutellaria galericulata and S. minor. feeding at first by mining lower leaves and then in a silken web amongst shoots or between leaves in June and July/August.

Note: There are subtle differences between this species and P. myllerana; in P. myllerana, the white spots are more distinct and arranged differently. Furthermore, P. sehestediana is said to have a lighter brown postmedian band, which P. myllerana lacks.
